"'In the time of my favour I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.' I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation"(2 Corinthians 6:2).
Jesus has made provision for your sin. He paid the penalty for the sin of all mankind on the Cross. It does not matter what you have done in the past; whether you are a murderer, thief, drug dealer, prostitute, sorcerer, magician, freemason, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, or evil consultant: everyone is covered by His finished work on the Cross.
The Call
If you do not know Him or have not confessed Jesus as your personal Saviour, now is the day of salvation. Do not let the enemy of your soul put fear inside you. Jesus says, "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away" (John 6:37). He has not changed. The assurance is still there for you today, as it was yesterday, especially for those who claim to be too intelligent or sophisticated for such 'holy stuff'.
Are you saying, "I go to church and have answered a call like this sometime ago, yet nothing has changed?" Make a renewed commitment to grow in the knowledge of Him. Walk with the Lord like never before.
Are you a Muslim, Freemason, Buddhist, Hindu or from a different religion? Do you believe there are many ways to God? I tell you the strong veil of religion is still masking the truth from you. You can remove it today by changing to the camp of light. Jesus says to you, "No-one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again" (John 3:3).
Are you like Nicodemus (John 3:1-15), a religious leader who was caught up in the religious world? Are you living in a world of chronic darkness, ignorance and misinformation, entrenched in the Law of Moses, but not born from above by the renewal of the Spirit? You have never asked Jesus to come into your heart. God says that we are not saved by good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Do not let pride keep you away.
Are you thinking that God is useless? Are you saying, "Where is God in my suffering? Is He watching to see when we do wrong things so He can punish us?" Let me assure you that God’s eye has been on you ever since you were born. But not so that He can criticise you. God has a plan for you and wants to enjoy a relationship with you. He wants you to be happy and loves you so much that He willingly gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him can have eternal life (John 3:16).
You do not have to be perfect for God to care about you. Everyone has messed things up at some time. No one can make him or herself perfect by trying. And God is too great to be stopped by your failures or fears.
Simply pray the following prayer in faith and Jesus will be your Lord. The prison door will be opened so that you can walk through to Jesus. Let your life begin again today.
Salvation Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. Your Word says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13). And "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9). You said my salvation would be the result of Your Holy Spirit giving me new birth by coming to live in me (John 3:5-6, 14-16; Romans 8:9-11) and that if I would ask, You would fill me with Your Spirit and give me the ability to speak with other tongues
(Luke 11:13; Acts 2:4).
I take You at Your Word. I confess that Jesus is Lord and I turn away from a life of sin. And I believe in my heart that You raised Jesus from the dead. Thank You for coming into my heart, for giving me Your Holy Spirit as You have promised, and for being Lord of my life.
If you have prayed this prayer, you have been 'born again': that is you have been made a new creature in Christ. Your past does not belong to you anymore. Your life has begun again. When Satan comes around trying to remind you of all your past deeds, just tell him "Wrong door, you cannot come in. Sin no longer lives here!"
Having confessed Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you need to tell someone to witness to the fact that you now want to walk with God. You need to find a Bible-believing church where you can have fellowship with believers. Make sure you also regularly read the Word of God as this gives truth and direction (Psalm 119:105). Irrespective of what circumstances life throws your way, He has promised that no one can take His children out of His hand (John 10:28). His presence surrounds you; the bond between you and the Lord cannot be broken.
